Normal People - [6/10]

I'll make it clear that I may be biased in this as I've never had a proper relationship or fallen in love before, but this was a very frustrating story. I think it was written beautifully, the emotions evoked and the imagery / feelings that were described were great, but the actual plot and the characters decisions were silly to me. I'm taking a very logical approach to a romance novel, but I feel like there was a lot of bullshit that could be sorted out with just a couple of sentences. The ending was also so unsatisfying, and yes, I fully understand that this book is about life, and life doesn't have a happy ending and everything doesn't turn out how we want to etc... but I go to a book or a story to escape that for a bit, not to be reminded of it. That could be the intention of this book, or even the genre which I am fairly new to. I am keen to read more romance novels, as the perspectives of relationships and the dynamics within them was quite interesting, especially the whole theme of the balance of power within it.
